Tapnell Trail has been developed by ramblers to suit walkers of all abilities so both kids and adults will be able to manage the meandering route with stunning views. Stretching 6.5 miles, the walk is circular and can be started at any point.

For those who want a whistle-stop tour of our favourite views, the Tapnell Trail awaits.
This popular 6-mile circular walking route, runs right through the middle of Tapnell Farm. The trail leads up onto the downs, for spectacular views over the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival site, and the south coast of the Island.
This fairly gentle, six-mile walking route takes you from the centre of Tapnell Farm, crests Compton Down, then winds back beside the River Yar. Along the way, you'll enjoy spectacular views of the south coast – as well as the opportunity to stop at some of the Island's best pubs.

There are lovely views along this trail over the water and the countryside, but care is needed on the rougher sections, especially in wetter conditions when the paths may become muddy. Appropriate footwear is advised. It’s perfect for all ages and abilities, so makes a great family walk, with plenty of wildlife along the way.
